Spring Equinox-Spring into Personal Growth

Spring is time for things to grow. We don’t always think of growing ourselves during this time. What do you want to grow in your life? Spring can be a time to go within and improve so many aspects of your life. Take time right now to journal five things you want to grow in your life. Once you pick them come up with a plan of action as to how you will accomplish your growth. Below are my five things I want to grow and a plan for each.

  1. I want to grow in my friendships with people. I want to get closer to my friends. One of the things I think I need to work on is taking the time to listen more and only give advice when asked for it. Spending quality time with each friend is important too. My plan is to work on the listening and take time to spend alone time with each friend even if it’s just once a month. A good article about growing friendships: https://www.lifeoptimizer.org/2008/08/29/build-stronger-friendships/
  2. I want to grow my meditation practice. I would like to do small meditations through out the day and one main meditation at night. Little mindful meditations through out the day can help with stress, anxiety and depression. I plan on doing a 15 minute meditation in the morning, one in the afternoon then a 30 minute one before bed.
  3. I want to grow my relationship with my husband. My husband travels a lot for his business. I would like to be better at communicating with him (see number 5).
  4. I want to grow in my art skills. I would like to take more art classes and try different medias. I will try new medias and tools. Right now I’m practicing watercolor.
  5. I want to grow my communication skills. I’m bad at confrontation and avoid telling people anything bad. I need to be better at telling people how I feel. Ripping the bandaid off. https://www.healthline.com/health/lack-of-communication#communication-tips

Person growth is so important in life. We as humans tend to look at others, judge others or wish we were others. Really we need to better ourselves before worrying about what others are doing. I’m including a short meditation to go within and ready you for your list of what you want to work on. I hope this blog finds you well and hope you have success in your growth process.

To prepare for our meditation we will do nadi shodhana (Alternate nostril breathing). Sit supported on a pillow or block so that your back is nice and long so you able to breathe easily. Here is a video of how to do it:
